Claude Camus owned Bagnols in the latter half of the 16th century. His fortune derived from the spice trade. It was he who improved the fortifications of the château during the wars of religion.
This room originally contained the mechanism for the drawbridge, which Claude Camus had installed to cross the moat on the west side of the château. In the 17th century the mechanism was removed, the room was remodelled and the windows were created. The wall paintings in the corridor were part of the decorative scheme of this room at that time. The 'Polonaise' bed in the style of Louis XIV is hung with antique pale green chintz with a floral design. The Italian baroque 18th-century commode is in pale green lacquered wood, decorated with garlands and flowers. The set of three 19th-century oil paintings are from the English School and depict a rural fishing scene. The Louis XIII high-backed walnut chair is covered with 19th-century green silk moire.
