When I first started looking into corporate retreats, I was surprised to learn just how many companies are investing in them. In fact, around 70% of businesses host one or two off-sites every year, and 85% say team-building is the main reason why. That really resonated with me, because when I think about the most meaningful progress I’ve seen in teams I’ve worked with, it usually happened outside of the normal day-to-day routine.

In today’s climate, with morale still fragile in many workplaces following Covid, retreats can do more than just lift spirits, then can re-energise people and re-anchor them to the company’s mission.

The benefits are hard to ignore! Better engagement, stronger collaboration, more creativity and even improved retention. What I also love is how retreats break down hierarchies. Once you’re outside the office, job titles tend to fade and people connect as humans. That’s often where the magic happens - those conversations over coffee or during a team challenge where new ideas and genuine bonds are formed.

Studies even back this up. TravelPerk found that 34% of professionals say their best ideas come during business trips, and over half of young professionals (ages 16-24) agree. I know I’ve had some of my best ideas away from my desk too!
