Surrounding Amhuinnsuidhe Castle is a vast, dramatically
contrasting landscape. A land of rare, untainted beauty that cannot
be found elsewhere, it has been designated both a 'Special Protection
Area' and a 'Site of Special Natural Interest.'
Otters tumble and play in the surrounding waters
and salmon leap while they wait for the right moment to return
to the place of their birth. Golden eagles circle and soar over
the
neighbouring hills and cliffs while gannets plummet into the sea.
A stag watches as it keeps guard over its claimed
territory of hillside crags and remote glens. All this awaits
the walker, the artist, the botanist and the ornithologist.
Situated on the north-west coast of Harris, Amhuinnsuidhe
Castle is accessible by both air and sea.
