Balfour Castle, the summer house of the Balfour family, was designed by David Bryce, the Edinburgh architect who was responsible for some of Scotland's best Victorian buildings.

In 1960, the last Balfour in line died having had four wives but no offspring.

The castle was taken over by Captain Tadeusz Zawadzki, a Polish cavalry officer, his Scottish wife and their four children.

Mrs Zawadzki and her two daughters reside in the castle and will help look after you during your stay.
