The Burren is a 300 sq km area of limestone rock covering the majestic hills and tranquil valleys of Clare. Explore the large collection of ring forts, and 1000 year old stone walls, or wander amongst the lakes, created by an underground network of streams that dramatically flood the surrounding area in winter, only to disappear completely by the summer. Green roads once used for hearding cattle to the upland for winter grazing now make superb walking routes.
