The hotel boasts 59 en-suite bedrooms, a number of which have four-poster beds. Each is designed in a country house style with Irish and continental antique period furniture, including wardrobes and vanity writing desk, which have been collected by the proprietors over the years from the Straffan Antique and Design Centre. The rooms are dressed with prints of 18th/19th century landscaped and Victorian scenes.
All rooms are spacious and airy, some up to 500 sq ft. Each bathroom is unique and is designed with a Victorian antique style including black/white chequered tiles and pull chain cisterns.
All the bedrooms have been named after the owners of Barberstown Castle
throughout the years, including the Nicholas Barby Room, the first owner,
which is found in the original castle fortress built in the 13th century,
which maintains the stone walls of the fortress.
The property, which is nestled on 20 acres of surrounding gardens, welcomes
you with its tree lined entrance and a courtyard centred by a fountain.
Guests check in at the registration desk in the airy and fresh Tea Rooms
Reception Area, which boasts glass ceilings of 20 feet high and is dressed
with paintings produced by local Kildare artist, Susan Dalton.
Guests arriving can enjoy refreshing afternoon tea or a light lunch in
the Tea Rooms Patio with its French wrought iron furniture overlooking
the landscaped gardens of Barberstown Castle and taking in the melodies
from the hotel's grand piano.
