The restaurant also has an extensively stocked gift shop.
Marrbury Smokehouse and Coffee Bistro at Carsluith Castle serves smoked seafood lunches.
Book dinner at the sumptuous Cally Palace Hotel (jacket and tie required) or the Murray Arms Hotel, where Robert Burns wrote Scots wha hae, both in Gatehouse of Fleet. The Masonic Arms, also in Gatehouse, has an excellent reputation and features in Egon Ronay’s 2006 Guide.
Stock up on seafood at the renowned Galloway Smokehouse in Carsluith,
5 miles down the coast.
The nearest convenience shop (and swimming pool) is at Auchenlarie Caravan
Park, 2 miles down the coast.
The pretty historic village of Gatehouse of Fleet, 3 miles further on,
has two small but well-stocked supermarkets (there is a branch of Morrisons
supermarket in Kirkcudbright, 10 miles away).
Visit Castle Douglas, the ‘food town’, with its many delicatessens, only 15 miles away. It also has a large branch of Tesco supermarket.
