Cross
over a bridge from the mainland and enter a world apart. Situated
on the northern tip of Upper Lough Erne, Belle Isle is a 470-acre
estate spread over eight picturesque islands. Inhabited since
the 12th century, Belle Isle is a vibrant working estate with
a fully functioning farm including a fine herd of ninety dairy
cows.
Originally
constructed in 1860 and now a listed building, the attractive
rustic structure of the courtyard has recently been converted
into eight individual apartments. All
have earned a four-star rating from the Northern Ireland Tourist
Board and each one has been designed very much in sympathy
with the warmth and strength of the original building materials.
In recognition of this sensitive development the courtyard
has won a RICS commendation for regeneration as well as a
prestigious Northern Ireland BA Tourism award.
