The saloon is 60 feet high, and has 22 doors. Busts are of Wellington, Apollo, Napoleon and Sir Walter Scott.

The brass ventilator in the centre of the room was originally for heating - much appreciated by Victorian ladies in long skirts emerging from a cold session in the dining room.

In Edwardian times there was a pianola in this room for dancing. Portraits are of family.


The table in the dining room can be extended for larger parties. Whenever possible the castle uses its own produce - game and salmon from the estate and fruit from the gardens.


The wallpaper in the drawing room is c.1900. The river seen from window, was redirected to its present course in about 1800 by Sir David. As in all William Burn's houses the drawing-room looks out on to a private garden.


The gallery has paintings by J.D. Fergusson, S.J. Peploe, F.C.B. Cadell and Leslie Hunter (the Scottish Colourists).

 

Small Drawing Room (originally Billiards Room).

Walls, Thai Silk. Clock which plays one of 8 available tunes every three hours, made in London for the Spanish market in about 1790.


The Library.


The Mareen Room is the upstairs sitting room with television, VCR, etc.

 


The family museum holds memorabilia, prints, photographs and objects of interest collected over the years by the family.
