Relax
in the elegantly proportioned State Room with its beautifully
arched windows, tapestries and the small chapel once used
by Mary Queen of Scots on her many visits to the castle.
All the bedchambers, tastefully furnished in period style,
have showers and toilets en-suite; the bedchambers, once occupied
by the tragic Queen and the ill-fated Bothwell, have four
poster beds and are available to guests.
All
bedchambers are of stonewall apart from the Red Room Double
Four Poster Bedchamber, which has red tapestries on the walls.
The bedchambers have photographs and paintings etc. on the
walls and all are decorated individually and very different
in their own way.
Scottish
& medieval are the most common words used to describe the
bedchambers, as many different tartans are used. The furniture
is very old yet in perfect condition and fits perfectly with
the medieval image the castle has kept over so many years.

"Everything
about the castle was absolutely marvellous. We loved everything
about our stay there and the staff were absolutely fabulous.
I
hope to return in the future and I especially hope the same
staff will be there. "
