Wonderfully wide beds contribute to the luxurious comfort of the rooms, each of which includes a private bathroom, LCD TV and wireless internet access, hairdryer and direct telephone, as well as complimentary Hildon water, tea and coffee making facilities with meltingly delicious home-made butter cookies.
There are 44 beautifully appointed bedrooms at The Castle Hotel, each distinctively different and luxuriously and individually decorated to the highest standard.
Louise Chapman’s style in soft furnishings and wall coverings inspires instant relaxation! This is luxury with all the atmosphere of a comfortable family home.

Five Garden Rooms are the hotel’s proudest, each one overlooking the twelfth century remains of the old castle keep and moat – a romantic setting for a hidden garden in the middle of Taunton. Louise Chapman’s interiors, like the rest of the hotel, avoid the bland, the beige and the boring! These are highly individual rooms with an emphasis on comfort, welcome and a sense of home.

At the top of The Castle, surrounded by its battlements, you will find the most stunning views over Taunton’s skyline. The Quantocks are to the north, The Blackdowns to the south and Exmoor to the west. This is a self-contained suite of rooms with a wide terrace leading into a large drawing room, connected by sliding doors to the dining room. One of the picture windows in the dining room overlooks the magnificent tower of Taunton’s parish church of St. Mary Magdalene. The Penthouse is served by its own kitchen and dumb waiter, connected to the main hotel kitchen. A private WC is situated on the same floor. This is an ideal rendez-vous for intimate dinner parties (up to twelve people) and larger buffets and cocktail parties for up to 35. There is no place quite like it in all of Somerset!
