Taunton lies between the rolling Quantock and Brendon Hills and the Somerset Levels, one of Europe's last great wetlands, and as such is the ideal centre for exploring a huge diversity of landscapes. Also within easy reach are Exmoor and the picturesque small Devon and Dorset ports circling Lyme Bay, the Catherdral cities of Wells and Exeter and the World Heritages Site of Bath.

The Castle Hotel in Taunton's town centre, is 2 miles from Juncion 25 of the M5 and only a few minutes from the station which provides direct connections with London and Birmingham. The national motorway network makes Taunton only 45 minutes from Bristol. London is 2.5 hours, Birmingham 2 hours and Manchester 3.5hours. From Heathrow it takes about 2 hours. There are two local airports at Bristol and Exeter.

From the M5 Northbound

• Exit the M5 at Junction 26.
• Take the 1st exit off the roundabout signposted Taunton.
• After 1/2 mile take the Taunton exit off the 1st roundabout.
• Continue straight on, through Rumwell, along Wellington Road.
• At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit and continue on, past Somerset
College of Arts and Technology (left hand side).
• At the next set of traffic lights turn left onto Castle Street.
• Follow this road until you come to the T junction. Here you will need to turn left.
• We are straight ahead, past the Bus Station and the Winchester Arms Public House which are on your left.
• Drive across the cobblestones into the hotel's private car park on your left.

From the M5 Southbound

• Exit the M5 at Junction 25.
• Take the Taunton exit off the roundabout (4th exit).
• Straight across the next roundabout.
• Following the road through the traffic lights past Creech Castle along the dual carriageway, keeping to the inside lane.
• At the next roundabout take the filter lane to the left, follow the road and take the right hand lane towards the centre of Taunton.
• Stay on this road, going through 4 sets of traffic lights keep in the far right hand lane, at the top of the hill go through the traffic lights, SHOUT will be on your left.
• Continue through 2 sets of traffic lights to the war memorial roundabout in the town centre.
• Taking the first exit you will go immediately through a set of lights, keep on this road passing the Mecca Bingo Hall on your right until you reach a mini roundabout.
• Turn right and drive past the bus station, the Castle Hotel is straight in front of you.
• Drive across the cobblestones into hotel's private car park on your left.
