Comlongon Castle is proud to offer unique Celtic wedding ceremonies. These vivid ceremonies are ideal for those who have a love of the theatrical and a keen sense of Scottish history. The castle conducts these moving ceremonies at dusk in the gardens under torchlight or late in the evening in the Great Hall of the Medieval castle, lit by flickering candlelight. The blessing is a perfect way to compliment your wedding ceremony earlier in the day. Once the stress of the wedding is over and you have enjoyed a banquet, you can enjoy the theatrical spectacle of the blessing.

Conducted by a specialist group of armed actors dressed in traditional plaids, you will be escorted by a bagpiper to the castle to partake in an event that will be the topic of conversation for many months to follow.

The Clan Chief will greet guests before inviting all into a Hand Fasting ceremony harking back through history to a pre-Christian era. Drawing from Celtic mythology, through the times of Robert the Bruce and William Wallace, the Clan Chief will perform a moving occasion that will conclude with the piper leading the celebration back to the hotel.

We recommend to get the best from this occasion that guests either hire kilts or costumes - the castle can supply these if required.

At present the Celtic ceremonies have no legal significance, serving only as a blessing. They are perfect for those who wish to revisit Comlongon for an anniversary or as a second ceremony for those who have a particular love of Scottish history.
