Like a storybook castle, this fantastic example of Robert Adam's genius
stands dramatically on a cliff top, with superb views across the Firth
of Clyde to the mountains of the Island of Arran.
Culzean Castle is approximately 50 miles south of Glasgow and Glasgow
International Airport, 17 miles from Glasgow Prestwick Airport, and
100 miles from Edinburgh. There are railway stations at Ayr and Maybole.
The castle stands in nearly 600 acres of Ayrshire's finest woodland and coastal walks. Some of the best golf in Scotland is close at hand at Turnberry, Royal Troon, Prestwick and Western Gailes. Culzean Country Park boasts no less than five kilometres of magnificent coastline. From the sand dunes at the south end of the park to the rugged rocky shoreline, pitted with rock pools, caves and rock arches, the shore and beaches of
sand and shingle stretch all the way to Croy Shore, the northern boundary of the park.
Culzean is in the heart of Burns country, a central base for visiting the poet's haunts. There are also other National Trust for Scotland properties within easy driving distance of the Castle.
Activities such as horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, fishing and sailing can be arranged for guests. Please ask if there are any other activities that might be of interest.
