LOCATION

Those who would like to get out and about can savour the attractions
of Edinburgh, only 20 minutes away, visit other great castles or stately
homes in the Scottish Borders and so much more. Rosslyn (also spelt Roslin
or Roslyn) Chapel, recently featured in the Da Vinci Code as a possible
resting place of the Holy Grail, is only five miles from Dalhousie Castle.
Could the Knights Templar have stayed at Dalhousie in the 14th century?
Since the late 1940s, Edinburgh has become a hot spot for artistic talent.
The summer programme has grown with the Edinburgh International Children’s
Festival starting the summer with playful exuberance as well as the Edinburgh
Fringe Festival, Edinburgh Book
Festival, the Military Tattoo in the magnificent
backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, the Jazz Festival starting in late July, Edinburgh Mela Festival, the Edinburgh Art Festival, quickly developing into a major international visual arts event, Edinburgh International Festival, Edinburgh Film Festival, which has now evolved into an eclectic platform for global cinema, and the Edinburgh Science Festival, a springtime journey of discovery in its own right. Edinburgh has truly become ‘Festival City’.
Whatever your particular inclination, the castle staff can give you helpful
advice and make the necessary arrangements. They’ll also be happy to arrange
packed lunches for you to keep you going throughout the day.
