Set on 410 acres of parkland in the peaceful Shannon
countryside, the sprawling Dromoland Estate has
much to offer. The gardens, which are based on
designs by Andre Le Notre, who also planned the
gardens at Versailles, include a formal rose garden
and a lily pond dating from 1812.
The
River Rine flows through the estate and
the castle overlooks Dromoland Lough - excellent
for trout fishing. Deer, pheasant and other
wildlife roam the grounds surrounding the
castle, creating a natural ambience. Within
the estate, vou can also enjoy archery,
boating, fishing, clay pigeon shooting,
tennis, walking, and mountain biking.
The 18-hole championship
golf course is a par 72, slope 126, measuring
6845 yards. It has recently been redesigned
producing a course that is both thoughtful
and challenging with many unique features
and truly breath taking scenery.

GOLF
The golf course on the Dromoland Estate is a captivating test of golf surrounded by the wonders of the Irish countryside. It has been described as an experience never to be forgotten, presenting the pure challenge of golf to both professional and amateur alike.
In 2003 the golf course was carefully redesigned and up-dated by renowned architects Ron Kirby and J.B. Carr. The design team adapted much of the traditional vision and integrity of the original John L. Wiggington layout.
The additions to the course include new tee boxes and sand-based greens designed to the highest USGA standards using the latest A4 creeping bent grass, which delivers a firm, fast putting surface. The course plays to 6,845 yards for gentlemen, and 5,301 yards for ladies.
The 18 enchanting holes
sweep delightfully through 410 acres of
shady woodland, open rolling pasture, feral
lakes, streams and the ever present magnificence
of the 16th century baronial castle presiding
over the estate. Yet for all the regal splendour
and unassuming nature, it is a course for
the 21st century. Even if your golf is not
at its sparkling best, you will remember
the soft pleasing curves and the endless
variety of the course.
