Fenton Tower is set in a beautiful restful and
rural location. If youre after seclusion
and privacy, its ideal as its equipped
with the latest security systems.
And
after all, you are staying in a fortified tower
on a hilltop. What could be safer? You
can treat our 20 acres of private land as your
own throughout your stay.
Daydream
by our secluded laich (a small Scottish lake),
or just gaze out across the miles of surrounding
farmland that ripples with ripening barley in
the summer. From outside, you can admire Fentons
restoration from all angles.
Using
a team of architects, engineers and designers,
this extraordinary restoration project included
installing Fentons first roof for 250 years
and the return of spiral staircases, turrets,
eleven fireplaces and a garret.
The
warm pink harling on the exterior matches the
original, and is created by combining local soil
and ground sea shells. The fortified walls are
up to eight thick in places, with narrow defensive
windows on the ground floor. But the unusually
large windows on the upper levels flood the rooms
with natural light some with a double or
triple aspect - perfect for admiring the incredible
views.

Within
Fenton Towers walls, a restful but sophisticated
ambience has been created, with interior design
that lets you appreciate the magnificence of the
building.
The aim has been to provide interiors that are
easy on the eye and comfortable to the body and
so ensure a memorable stay. Using the soft matt
finish of traditional limewash, walls are kept
pale to reflect the natural light flooding through
the castles windows.
Underfoot,
you will find reclaimed flagstones line the Dining
Room, Great Hall and Library, while the en-suite
bathrooms are finished in oak, and the bedroom
floors are carpeted in a plain wool fine loop.
Rugs are scattered to add colour and interest
whether ancient kelims or bespoke plaids.
Every
room is furnished individually to create a special
ambience. Windows are dressed simply in silk,
linen or quality cotton. Rooms are furnished with
restraint using unique antiques of oak or fruitwood
from across Europe. One room boasts a 19th century
Italian silver-gilt four-poster bed. The specially-commissioned
refectory table in the Dining Hall was created
using old walnut timbers salvaged from a French
château.
But
comfort remains of paramount importance. At every
opportunity, the latest technology has been used
for plumbing and lighting while radiant under-floor
heating keeps every room at the perfect temperature
all year round. All the upholstered furniture
and beds are bespoke made to ensure the highest
quality.
Whichever
of the bedrooms you choose, you can opt for either
goose-down duvets or embroidered cotton sheets
combined with pure wool blankets. What is more,
you can always keep in touch using the Internet
and telephone connections in your room. Or just
relax in front of the latest digital TV (hidden
within a piece of antique furniture), watch something
on the DVD player or use the individual satellite
decoder to access your choice of international
television channels.
Through a connecting door is your en-suite bathroom.
Here you will find a wonderful choice of the old
and new: either relax in an antique bath or get
re-invigorated under a powered shower. Put
simply, we have tried to anticipate all of your
needs, and met them with elegant ease.
