If you are experienced and want to enjoy the unique gaits and long gallops, you will be mounted on spirited sensitive horses which love to go fast. If you are not so sure and would prefer to focus on the magnificent views and the hugeness of the outdoors, more sedate animals will be chosen for you.

They have direct access to a wide range of terrain around Windy Gowl - grouse moors, rough hill, forestry, rivers and valleys. Along the pathways, you will have breathtaking views across the Pentland Hills, the Moorfoots and the Lammermuirs and you will enjoy the peace and tranquility of life in the wild. Rub shoulders with an assortment of bird life like buzzards, skylarks, curlews, peregrines as well as seeing glimpses of foxes, badgers, roe deer, rare butterflies ....... all this just a short drive from Melville Castle.
