Malham - Surrounding the Yorkshire Dales village of Malham, you are encouraged to take some time out and discover some of the geological treasures that lie within. Standing some 80 metres high and 300 metres wide and north of the mid craven fault, Malham Cove is a curved crag of carboniferous limestone formed after the last ice age. Meltwater, particularly from Malham Tarn, cut back the cove as it fell over the edge as a waterfall.

This erosion took place more actively at the lip of the fall rather than at the sides, hence the curved shape. To the north of the Mid Craven Fault in the Malham Formation is Gordale Scar, which was carved as a meltwater channel beneath the Devensian ice-sheet. The sides of this gorge overhang to a considerable extent, suggesting that there was once a great cavern, the roof of which has subsequently collapsed.

The Bull Inn

Under new ownership, and now no longer brewery run, The Bull Inn is the second venture for the Shibden Mill Inn of Halifax, another great food experience.

Managed by Neil and Jane Butterworth, Neil was the former Head Chef at the Shibden Mill Inn, where he won the prestigious Yorkshire Life "Dining Pub of the Year" award alongside his AA Rosette for excellent quality of food.

This lovely old building has been carefully refurbished in order to provide a wonderful venue for dining out. The open log fireplace adds to the cosy, relaxed atmosphere, which makes dining a pleasure to sit back, linger over, and enjoy. Check out the hand drawn cask ales.

The Bull Inn is only a short drive from Peel Castle.......what better way to enjoy an evening than in a lovely Yorkshire pub!
