Welcome
Shieldhill Castle is a country house hotel dating back in parts to 1199, with peaceful views over the rolling Scottish countryside of South Lanarkshire.

Located within easy travelling distance of both Edinburgh and Glasgow, Sheildhill makes a perfect base for those wishing to explore Southern Scotland's largest cities.

The castle offers accommodation in 26 bedrooms. All rooms in the castle are individually styled and decorated to a high standard. Each room is

named after a Scottish battle and is equipped with private facilities, television and a telephone.

The castle's Chancellor Restaurant is run by a dedicated kitchen team who use carefully selected fish, meat, game and vegetables to create a menu that has been awarded the 2005 Food and Wine Award by VisitScotland, described as setting a standard that businesses throughout Scotland should aspire to achieve.

The castle can also hold weddings in its romantic, candle-lit chapel and has a number of function rooms suitable for corporate events. The castle's corporate credentials are further boosted by its ability to hold outdoor pursuits, sports, and team-building events.

Shieldhill is the regular base for many parties enjoying Grouse, Partridge and Pheasant Shooting in the area. Days can be arranged on several leading estates varying from large driven days to smaller walked up sport, or stalking. These can be tailored to suit your needs. Clay and Laser Shooting can also be offered to compliment a shooting trip or as part of a mixed activity break.
