fine dining
Thornbury Castle is renowned for its many traditional English favourites as well as the exceptional Sunday roasts. The cheeseboard is simply superb and you'll also find plenty of modern, internationally-inspired dishes on the menu.
Thornbury Castle has always been renowned for its fine food and is the recipient of many prestigious awards. The Head Chef changes the lunch menu on a daily basis enabling him to incorporate the freshest seasonal produce.
All dishes on the lunch and dinner menu use only the finest and freshest ingredients, sourced from local markets and suppliers wherever possible. Herbs are grown on the premises plus a quantity of vegetables such as courgette flowers and cherry tomatoes.
The Tower Dining Room
A unique, octagonal room with large, imposing arrow-slit windows and magnificent open fireplace. This room has great character and makes for an unforgettable castle dining experience. It can seat a maximum of 30 persons.
Incidentally, there are five chamber pot recesses in The Tower Dining Room. Many years ago, when the ladies left the room to retire to their sewing, to talk about Henry’s latest wife or to do whatever ladies did in those days, the men would stay behind and discuss the business of the day. However, they knew that if one of them left the room to go to relieve himself, he would be talked about by the others. So, to avoid this, they had chamber pots hidden in the recesses so they could use them as and when required!
The Tudor Hall
The Tudor Dining Room, a 16th century large open hall, is accentuated by an abundance of original features: suits of armour, tapestries and exposed walls, giving this room a distinctive and unforgettable atmosphere! And for the ultimate comfort, it also has underfloor heating, radiating through original oak floor boards.
Alongside the newly-completed satellite kitchen which provides AA rosetted quality food, The Tudor Hall also has two adjoining rooms, The Great Oven and The Boyling House, both of which can be utilised as additional space for your function - a private bar, for instance, or perhaps a casino room.

Menus
Food at Thornbury Castle offers plenty of modern internationally inspired dishes as well as some traditional favourites such as the castle's famous Treacle Tart and Butterscotch Pudding and Sunday Roast. The cheeseboard is exclusively British too.
