Chris and Rachel, the
current owners of the castle,
have traced its ownership from
the twelfth century.

The castle, its estate and the planned
village were original developed by the
Hansfard family around 1150 AD.

Aside from a short period following the Black
Death (which wiped out up to a third of the population), the estate remained in the hands
of the Hansards for around 500 years.
