The market town of Darlington, with its long industrial
history and Quaker origins, is close by,
as is Durham, spectacularly dominated by its
1000 year old cathedral set high above a loop
in the River Wear.
Expect sheep, stone walls and
some
outstanding views of the English
countryside in the Yorkshire Dales, or
alternatively go for a walk in the
North Yorkshire Moors, wilder
than the Dales and pure
Heriott and Heartbeat
country.
