The Loire Valley
The many châteaux dotted along the river are a reminder that the Loire
has always attracted the great and the powerful, while picturesque villages
alternate with towns rich in art and history.
The Loire châteaux encapsulate all the majesty and grandeur of Medieval,
Renaissance and Classical architecture. Enjoy beautiful landscaped gardens
with formal rosebeds, delightful aromatic herb gardens or let the children
get lost in the mazes.
Some of the majestic châteaux worth a visit are Chenenceau and Chambor,
not forgetting the riverside towns of Amboise and Chinon where the châteaux
dominate the towns.
Don’t forget to spend some time visiting the famous vineyards of the
Loire Valley. Many wine cellars are open for sampling these popular delights.
Vouvray, Chinon, Touraine, St Nicolas de Bourgueil and Anjou all within this
area.
