Visit nearby Orange and you immediately find yourself in the
midst of Roman civilization with the three arches of the Arc de Triomphe standing
majestically over the city. Orange is a charming provençal town with
narrow streets, small squares and cafés shaded by sycamore trees. A
small river, the Meyne, runs through part of the town. At many of the local
restaurants you can experience the taste of traditional provençal cooking.
If you want to explore further afield, spend a day out at the fashionable
St Tropez or the vibrant city of Marseilles on the Mediterranean coast.
The vineyards of the Rhone valley make excellent outings to sample the local
wines. Cotes-du-Rhone, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Cotes-de-Ventoux are
all in the surrounding area.
The region offers by its very nature various sporting activities such as horse–riding,
walking or canoeing/kayaking in the Ardeche Gorge. Other possibilities are:
hot-air ballooning, walking, rambling or hiking and cycling as well as the
opportunity of visiting caves. If you are a keen golfer there are 8 courses
within an hour's drive.
