
Château de Pomiro is about 6km from the bastide village of Montreal du Gers.
The town of Eauze is the capital of Armagnac and is about 12 km away. There is a good market here every Thursday. Called Gascony before the French revolution, the Gers is historically the land of the Musketeers and the birth place of D’Artagnan. Today the region is famous for gastronomy with, Foie Gras, Confit de Canard and, of course, the fine brandy, Armagnac . Of the many bastide villages local to the château, Montreal is the nearest. The Armagnac and wine vineyards in the area welcome visitors to taste their produce. Other activities include golf, horse riding and fishing. The château provides bikes for guests wishing to explore the local area .
The Gers is famous for its gastronomy and there are many local restaurants to suit a wide variety of tastes and pockets. Having the lowest population in France, this region remains unspoilt from mass tourism and visitors can experience the real rural French life. Montreal hosts many festivals during the summer and of note is the classical music festival in August, which is very popular with evening concerts in the Medieval church.
