Castles are the perfect backdrops for a banquet-themed evening. Below are details of two castles that offer banquets, taking place at regular intervals throughout the year, which anyone can join.

Lumley Castle

Lumley Castle is a 14th-century castle located in North-east England, just outside the city of Durham.

It is 1595, you’re invited to attend the banquet feast of Sir John Lumley; the doors to the dungeon and guardroom are thrown open where wine and ale can be purchased. You will be greeted with a friendly smile to the sound of bagpipes, whilst being served five courses of delicious food. Throughout the banquet, you will be entertained with songs, sketches and sing-a-longs!

Banquets at Lumley Castle are held most Friday and Saturday evenings; they can be booked for couples/individuals, or exclusively for private parties, weddings or corporate events.

Coombe Abbey

Coombe Abbey is a 12th-century Cistercian abbey located in Warwickshire, England, approximately 2 hours' drive from London.

It is 1539, the Abbot and his provost have thrown open the doors of the abbey, inviting the local peasants to come in and join them for a meal. The year is now 1595, Sir Robin, the Courte Chamberlain, invites his ‘noble’ guests to a great feast. As the feast progresses, the guests are entertained throughout. The banquet is then disrupted by the news of the outbreak of the plague and the country prepares for war. The night is filled with bawdy fun, food and wine, colour and music. Miss it at your peril!!

Banquets at Coombe Abbey are held most Friday and Saturday evenings; they can be booked for couples/individuals, or exclusively for private parties, weddings or corporate events.
