Walworth Castle – the hidden gem on Celtic Castle's website.
Walworth Castle, situated in Darlington (only 50 minutes from Newcastle and 30 minutes from Durham), has many a surprise up its sleeve. Although it is 825 years old, the castle is bursting with life.
Walworth Castle offers its very own falconry experience – 'Walworth Castle Birds of Prey'. This award-winning centre aims to provide visitors with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn not only about birds of prey, but also see them up close in all their glory. In addition to the daily displays (April to October), there is a range of falconry experiences available throughout the year.
The castle offers several packages, such as Falconry Afternoon, Falconry Day, Family Falconry Experience and a Hawk Walk. There is also a Photography Afternoon, giving guests the opportunity to take pictures with the birds of prey. Prices vary.
The castle also offers a Murder Mystery evening on various dates throughout the year. There has been a murder and the dinner guests are required to find out 'who dunnit'. You'll need your wits about you to figure out the murderer, their motive and their method. This exciting evening includes a 3 course meal and murder mystery entertainment. Prices start from £26.95 per person.
Walworth Castle prides itself in being child friendly; it has a superb play area for children. Children's safety is extremely important to to the staff at Walworth Castle, which is why they have made sure that the play area is well away from the car park, but near the patio. This gives parents a break, but also the knowledge that their children are in a safe environment.
The castle also offers a good selection of healthy children's meals which are served in the Farmer's Bar or, if the weather's nice, outside on the patio.
If you're looking for somewhere different to stay this summer, look no further than Walworth Castle.
