Melville Castle

After arrival into Edinburgh Airport, journey to Melville Castle (around 25 minutes) for your first castle stay. Melville Castle truly is a beautiful landmark, just on Edinburgh city centre’s doorstep. Surrounded by luscious woodlands, guests are invited to enjoy the tranquil comfort and luxury of this historic castle.

Settle in to your Superior Room, then enjoy an evening meal in the castle's quirky brasserie restaurant and cellar bar.

During your stay at Melville Castle, head into Edinburgh, Scotland's capital city. With so much to see and do, there is plenty to explore from the Royal Mile, home to the magnificent Edinburgh Castle at one end and the Palace of Holyroodhouse - the Queen’s official residence in Scotland - at the other. Visit St Giles’ Cathedral or the Scottish Parliament building. There is plenty to keep you entertained before returning to the castle.

Enjoy an evening at leisure and dinner in the restaurant.

After a sumptuous breakfast, bid a fond farewell to Melville as you head to the second castle of your tour (around a 2 hour journey). En-route you may wish to visit Edinburgh again or alternatively perhaps visit Stirling, a vibrant city with attractions including Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument, Deanston Distillery and the Battle of Bannockburn Experience amongst others.

Fonab Castle is a delightful 5-Star property nestled at the foot of the Cairngorms. This will be your home for the next 2 nights in a Castle Room, inspired by the natural splendour, romance and the colours of the Perthshire Highlands.

Spend the rest of the day exploring the castle and surroundings, relax in the spa or enjoy afternoon tea. In the evening, enjoy dinner in the brasserie.

Start the day with a Fonab breakfast, then the day is yours to spend as you choose. You may wish to stay at the castle and relax at the spa, or for those who like to explore, the Highland Perthshire towns and villages of Dunkeld, Aberfeldy, Blair Atholl, Kenmore and Killin - Dunkeld and Kenmore are within easy reach. Other options include Blair Athol Distillery in Pitlochry, the Scottish Chocolate Centre, the Beatrix Potter Exhibition, and Castle Menzies. It is also possible to arrange a sensational Land Rover safari.

In the evening, enjoy dinner in the Sandemans Restaurant.

Day 5

Tulloch Castle

After breakfast, bid farewell to Fonab as you take the spectacular journey up through the Cairngorms National Park (2 hours' drive) to your final castle of the tour, Tulloch Castle. This authentic castle, dating back to the 12th century, is on the outskirts of the market town of Dingwall and just 30 minutes' drive from Inverness.

All castles should have a ghost, and Tulloch is said to have one in the shape of the "Green Lady". A portrait of her hangs in the Grand Hall.

Relax for the evening and enjoy a 3-course dinner at the castle.

Spend the day exploring the area - history buffs will relish the opportunity to visit Cawdor Castle, Brodie Castle and the renowned Elgin Cathedral. Nature lovers should make time to enjoy the Culbin Nature Reserve and dolphin watching on the Moray Firth. For the whisky aficionados amongst us, why not visit the distilleries of Tomatin and Glen Ord? There really is something for everyone!

Return to the castle and relax in the public rooms before enjoying dinner.

After breakfast, say goodbye to the team at Tulloch Castle before leaving for the airport or continuing onward on your journey.
