Scotland is filled with historic castles and beautiful lochs and makes a great holiday destination. This seven-night self-drive tour takes in the West Coast and the delightful Isle of Mull.

After arrival in to Glasgow Airport journey to Culzean Castle (around 1hr 15 minutes). Like a story book castle, Culzean stands dramatically on a cliff top, with superb views across the Firth of Clyde to the mountains of the Island of Arran. This will be your home for the night. Culzean Castle houses a museum which reflects the different stages of Culzean’s past, from Robert Adam's additions to its heyday as one of the grandest houses in Scotland. A stay at Culzean offers a unique experience.

The country park and gardens offer the chance to walk and explore, perhaps follow the path down to the shoreline and enjoy the wonderful fresh air and views of this coastal castle.

Day 2

kilmartin Castle

En-route from Culzean Castle, perhaps stop in Glasgow to visit one of many attractions - from Kelvingrove Art Gallery, the Riverside Museum or Glasgow Science Centre. A city rich in Victorian and Art Nouveau architecture and also a great place for a spot of shopping.  Beautifully restored Kilmartin Castle in Argyll is approx 2.5 hours' drive from Glasgow. Once you've left the cities behind, the journey is quite picturesque and includes a trip through the wooded glens and quiet lochs of Trossachs National Park.

 Day 3

The choice is yours - explore the Trossachs and Loch Lomond area further or venture to Kilmartin Glen - the site of many an ancient Bronze and Iron Age settlement or visit the ruins of Carnasserie Castle. Kilmartin Castle was home to the great Campbell Clan who held power in the Highlands for many a year and their story can be discovered in this area.

After breakfast, depart Kilmartin Castle for the drive to Oban (50 minutes) and take the ferry from Oban to Craignure on the Isle of Mull. A 45 minute journey from Craignure takes you to Tobermory, the home of the ever popular Glengorm Castle. Glengorm is a haven offering tranquillity and sheer natural beauty with views across the North Atlantic; a great base to explore the Isle of Mull and its attractions. Visit the coffee shop on the estate for a taste of local produce or a spot of lunch or enjoy one of the many walks on the estate.

DAY 5

Glengorm is ideally located to visit the Isle of Iona, a tiny island off the southwest coast of Mull in the Inner Hebrides. It is only 1.5 miles wide by 3 miles long, with a population of around 120 permanent residents, yet rich in history and heritage it is a great place to explore and visit Iona Abbey. Head back to Mull for a relaxing night at Glengorm Castle.

Day 6

Stonefield Castle

After a hearty breakfast, take the return ferry back to the mainland. Take the route from Oban to Inveraray and visit Inveraray Castle and Gardens, Home of the Duke & Duchess of Argyll and visit Inveraray Jail a living museum and visitor attraction. After spending time in Inveraray, continue on your way to Loch Fyne, which is the home of Stonefield Castle. With delightful seafood on offer, enjoy dinner at the castle's Loch Fyne Restaurant.

Day 7

Pay a visit to the charming fishing village of Tarbert or explore the local area. The location of Stonefield gives you superb access to all the ferry points across to the islands, such as Jura, Islay, Gigha and Arran. After a day of sightseeing, spend your final night at Stonefield Castle.
