Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get married in Markree Castle?
Markree Castle can host civil ceremonies/partnerships, which take place in the original Cooper family chapel. There are a number of churches, of all denominations, close by. Couples also regularly choose to use the chapel for blessings; while you are welcome to bring your own priest or minister, there are a number of options available locally.
Is there a function room at Markree Castle?
No, not as such. Part of the uniqueness of Markree is that there are no function rooms in the traditional sense of the word. Instead, you and your guests will use the castle as you would your own home, with your reception in the main hall, dinner in the dining room and dancing in the lounge on the purpose-built dance floor. The atmosphere and ambiance at Markree Castle makes for a very special day for you and your guests.
Can my guests stay on-site?
There are 30 en-suite guest bedrooms in the castle and special rates are offered to guests. There are also self-catering cottages situated in the old farmyard buildings. Altogether, accommodation on the estate can be offered for over 110 people.
How many wedding guests can be catered for?
The maximum number of guests Markree Castle can cater for at a seated banquet is 170.
