Hands-on time with Swinton Park's birds of prey

Swinton Park's aviary is housed in the restored orangery and is a very short walk from the hotel, adjacent to the four acre walled garden and children’s play area.

The falconer is Sophie Abbott, a local woman who masterminded the launch of the Bird of Prey Centre, and lives within walking distance of the hotel. Sophie has lived on the Swinton Estate all her life and, having worked with birds of prey since the age of 12, is a highly skilled and passionate falconer. Falconry experiences on the estate are run by either Sophie or her mother, Mandy Abbott.

Each experience provides a lot of hands-on time with a range of birds of prey. With a number of species from hawks, falcons, owls and corvids all within the beautiful landscaped parkland, Swinton offers the ideal opportunity to try something new. Also on offer are some of the best photo opportunities around with these majestic birds.
