Itinerary
Day 1-2 - Château Rhianfa

From Manchester Airport the journey to Château Rhianfa takes approx 2 hours. The building stands proudly amidst spectacular gardens on the Isle of Anglesey with views over the Menai Strait and the towering peaks of Snowdonia.
Whether you want to explore the island of Anglesey, or you fancy heading over to North Wales, Château Rhianfa is conveniently located close to many great attractions and activities. In the evening, enjoy dinner in the Banqueting Hall.
Day 3-4 - Augill Castle

Say goodbye to Wales as you head to England and the delightfully quirky Augill Castle. The journey time is around 2 hours 30 minutes. Augill Castle, in the Upper Eden Valley, has the dramatic North Pennines as its backdrop, with gardens opening out to views of the nearby Yorkshire Dales and the Lakeland Fells beyond. It is a great base from which to explore either the Yorkshire Dales or head off to the Lake District with Kendal, Windermere and Keswick all within easy reach. For those who like their outdoor activities, golf, horse riding or swinging through the forest can be arranged. After a busy day sightseeing, retreat to Augill Castle for the evening.
Day 5-6 - Lumley Castle

Leaving the delightful Eden Valley behind, your journey north continues; stop en-route to see Hadrian’s Wall, a World Heritage Site or visit the Cathedral City of Durham or the City of Newcastle. Continue on your journey to Lumley Castle, your home for the next two nights. Enjoy dinner in the Black Knight Restaurant or make new friends in the Library Bar.
Day 7-8 - Traquair Castle

After breakfast, take the coastal route to Scotland and visit Holy Island and Lindisfarne Castle. Lindisfarne is a tidal island accessed via a three mile causeway at low tide, therefore, do ensure you check the tide times prior to your visit. As an alternative Bamburgh Castle is certainly worth a visit. After a day of sightseeing head to Traquair Castle, your base for the next two days. Traquair is the oldest inhabited and most romantic house in Scotland so a perfect place to stay, once you have crossed the border.
Traquair is a day out in itself with its own museum, gift shop, brewery and gardens to explore, however a visit to Scotland would not be complete without a visit to the capital city of Edinburgh. After around a 50-minute drive from Traquair, you will reach Edinburgh, with so much to see and do; visit the castle or the Royal Mile or enjoy a spot of shopping to find those last minute holiday souvenirs. After a day of touring the capital, return to Traquair House for one more night.
