Itinerary

Day 1 - Corsewall Lighthouse

The first stop of your tour of the gorgeous west coast of Scotland is Corsewall Lighthouse - a 19th-century structure that provides unique hotel accommodation for those looking to experience the beauty of the western coastlines.

Here is what our very own Castles Sales Advisor, Lizzy, had to say about it...

"Corsewall Lighthouse was built in 1815 by Robert Stevenson, grandfather of the Treasure Island author Robert Louis Stevenson. With stunning coastal scenery and its own ruined Iron Age fort on site, the lighthouse is perched on the northern coast of the Rhinns of Galloway, near Stranraer. It boasts views over the Ayrshire coast, Ailsa Craig and the Isle of Arran, providing opportunities to watch local wildlife, include deer, dolphins, sea birds, and sea otters! Try your hand at sea fishing from the rocky shoreline, or by boat from Portpatrick. A day trip to Glasgow is another option for something a little different."

Day 2 - Stonefield Castle

The second stop of your castle tour is the beautiful Stonefield Castle, dating back to the 19th century and offering guests awe-inspiring views over Loch Fyne; this is the perfect place to continue your tour, based on seeing the best sights that Scotland has to offer.

See what Lizzy has to say about this location below...

"Stonefield Castle, set on the Mull of Kintyre Peninsula, is an ideal seal and dolphin watching spot, and is close to the gorgeous fishing village of Tarbert. It is perfect for those who like the outdoors, with kayaking, wild swimming, cycling and hiking trails nearby. Local sites to visit include abbeys and fabulous beaches, plus there’s Beinn an Tuirc Distillery for rainy gin-tasting days!"

Day 3-4 - Mingary Castle

What better way to finish off your sightseeing tour of the West Coast than at one of its most distinctive 13th-century features - Mingary Castle!

See what Lizzy had to say about this fabulous castle below...

"Mingary Castle is just nine miles south of Fort William - either catch the ferry for the short ride across Loch Linnhe, or continue to Glenfinnan with its monument marking the place where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard, and the Glenfinnan Railway made famous in the Harry Potter films, then head west to Mallaig. This route gives spectacular views of the Isles (Rum, Eigg, and Muck). There is no need to move far upon arrival, as the castle is on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, the most westerly point of the British Isles, bounded by the sea on three sides. When not out watching the wildlife, or exploring the coastline, the food created by chef patron, Colin, showcases what Scotland has to offer, using sustainable and seasonally sourced local produce."
