The fantastically light Drawing Room features a beautiful green floral wallcovering interspersed between ivory drapes, which cocoon a spacious room of soft colours to create a relaxing scene. The Library is deeply atmospheric in rich shades of reds, featuring a piano, window seats and wall-to-wall bookshelves. The elegant and light-filled Dining Room features three lavishly-draped Georgian sash windows and a towering mantelpiece whilst a long, perfectly-set table takes centre stage. The Ballroom is exquisitely presented with floor-to-ceiling windows and its generous space is a bride’s dream for the first dance.

Your wedding day

Birkhill Castles guarantees you a wonderful setting no matter which area you choose for your nuptials and celebrations…

Smaller wedding ceremonies of up to 20 guests can take place in the chandelier-lit dining room followed by your reception and dancing in the ballroom. Or, for an even more intimate and relaxed setting, opt for a ceremony in the Drawing Room and Library.

For a seated wedding for up to 40 guests, the Ballroom is the recommended option for the ceremony, which can later be transformed for the reception where you can enjoy a great night of music and dancing with a traditional Scottish Ceilidh and piper.

In the warmer months, choose to exchange your vows in the idyllic Wild Garden, amongst the towering pines on a delicate carpet of moss, on the beach, manicured front lawn or in the woodland garden.

Your long-awaited day will unfold seamlessly as Birkhill’s Master of Ceremonies coordinates each aspect of your wedding, leaving you to enjoy it from start to finish. The castle’s internationally-recognised chef will be delighted to create you a delectable bespoke wedding breakfast menu, making use of a range of fresh, seasonal ingredients from the castle’s walled garden.

Our family reunion at Birkhill Castle could not have been more perfect. The staff were fabulous. Thank you to castle managers Jamie and Iona. Butlers Thibault and Dan. Chefs Sam and Callum. And the wonderful housekeeping staff. They helped organize falconry and archery at the castle. Clay pigeon shooting nearby. Food was amazing every day. Exquisite table settings every night for dinner.

For my 40th birthday, I celebrated with 22 friends at Birkhill Castle, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, it was exactly as we imagined – majestic, grand, and completely ours. The ambiance and decor of the castle were impressive, giving a sense of grandeur and exclusivity. Not a single person was disappointed by their rooms; everyone raved about the comfort of their beds. The dining experience was exceptional, with Daniel and Alister being extremely accommodating to some of our guests’ dietary restrictions, even those mentioned at the last minute. We enjoyed having our own corners of the main floor for post-dinner drinks and activities outside by the gardens, pool, beach, driving range, or hiking on the expansive grounds. Jamie and Iona, the castle managers, were essential to our planning and stay. They were thoughtful, generous with their time, and patient with all our questions. We arranged clay pigeon shooting, archery, whiskey tastings, and several dinners, all organized by Jamie and Iona, including transportation. Celebrating my 40th birthday at Birkhill Castle made the occasion incredibly special – every single person said it was the most magical birthday event they had ever been to. I would absolutely recommend Birkhill Castle for similar events. It was completely enchanting

We spent a week at Birkhill castle and loved every minute. So private yet so close to everything – an easy drive to all the main attractions. Our family and friends loved it. The location, rooms and views were just perfect!

We rented Birkhill Castle, for a family reunion. We are from Canada, and a bunch of family and friends came with us. We can not say enough good things about the Castle, the host, or staff, everything was perfect. The Grounds are lovely, we enjoyed the swimming pool, The rooms are beautiful. Lady Dundee, even arranged for me to meet my McNabb clan chief, doesn't get any better than that. Truly a wonderful experience, hope to get back
