Located in a picturesque village in the beautiful West Sussex countryside, Amberley Castle is a unique, luxurious hotel steeped in over 900 years of history.

Within its Medieval walls lies a picturesque retreat, which seamlessly blends ancient architecture and history with modern design and contemporary cuisine, cooked to the highest standards.

London is just 90 minutes away by road. Alternatively, a direct train runs from London Victoria to Amberley Station, which is just a short taxi ride from the castle.

Accommodation

All 19 bedrooms at Amberley Castle are luxuriously appointed. Every room is unique in design, reflecting the history of the castle, and furnished with antiques and fine fabrics alongside contemporary features.

For families, there are options incorporating interconnecting spaces, twin beds and living rooms with space for foldaway beds.

Guests are invited to step into a time capsule on arrival; suits of armour stand to attention, intricate coats of arms tell tales of previous owners and fine fabrics sit alongside beautiful antiques brought together by the Brownsword family.

Dining

Restaurant

Enjoyed on the first floor of the castle in either the magnificent Queen's Room, with its barrel-vaulted ceiling dating back to the 12th century and open fire, or The Great Room, built in 1165 by Bishop Luffa of Chichester, a fine example of Norman architecture with its high lancet windows, open fireplace, oak flooring, tapestry and suits of armour.

Afternoon Tea

Enjoy a sumptuous home-made afternoon tea of finger sandwiches, fruit and plain scones with clotted cream and seasonal preserve, plus a selection of delicious cakes, quiche and sausage rolls. Served with your choice of tea or coffee.

Private Dining

There are three rooms available for private dining, seating between 12 and 40 guests. Choose from a selection of sample menus, crafted by the talented kitchen team using the best of British and local produce. Their approach is simple and contemporary, utilising a variety of techniques, to create an unfussy, elegant dining experience in which exceptional ingredients are cooked to the highest standards.

Activities

Amberley Castle has a wide range of facilities and amenities; from the award-winning gardens to the 18-hole putting course, there is something for everybody to enjoy.

History
