How We Helped Fernanda & Noelia Plan Their Wedding at Scotland’s Oldest Inhabited House

Fernanda and Noelia contacted us in early Spring, full of excitement about their dream of an intimate castle wedding, but unsure where to begin. They were open to discovering the perfect setting across Scotland, England, or Ireland, and needed guidance on finding a venue that would suit their guest numbers, budget, and preferred dates.

We set up a Zoom call and spent some time getting to know them, talking through their ideas, and sharing stories about different castle experiences.

We discussed what mattered most to them and I showed them some castles that I thought would best match their requirements. By the end of our chat, we had a clear sense of which properties could bring their dream wedding to life.

Shortlisting the Perfect Property

One of the properties we discussed was Traquair House. Traquair dates back to 1107 and has been home to the Stuart family since 1491 - holding the claim of being Scotland's oldest inhabited house. Set in the Scottish Borders, it's less than an hour from Edinburgh, yet feels like a world apart.

Traquair offered everything they were looking for:

  • Exclusive-use options for their preferred November dates.
  • A historic, atmospheric setting perfect for an intimate autumn/winter wedding.
  • On-site vegan-friendly catering from the house’s talented chef.
  • Private grounds and flexible spaces for both ceremony and reception.

After seeing the options and talking them through, Fernanda & Noelia decided Traquair House was the one. We then introduced them to Gillian and the team at Traquair, who took over the finer details and helped make their big day seamless.

"We Celebrated Our Dream Wedding in the Scottish Borders"

I caught up with Fernanda & Noelia in December and was thrilled to receive this wonderful response from them:

“We do not even know where to begin, our wedding was perfect! We are so glad we used Celtic Castles’ Zoom service that led us to Traquair House, where we celebrated our dream wedding in the Scottish Borders. Scotland has many beautiful locations, but Traquair was the perfect choice for us! The Celtic Castles team perfectly understood what we wanted and what was important for us, and provided a wonderful service. We are very thankful to the entire team and highly recommend it!” - Fernanda & Noelia

We’re very grateful to Fernanda & Noelia for allowing us to share a selection of their wedding photos. These images capture the intimate atmosphere, the beautiful setting at Traquair House, and the happy moments that made their day so special.
