Turreted Laird’s mansion nestled in the heart of Glenshee, surrounded by miles of picturesque Highland wilderness

Dalmunzie Castle is a stunning former Laird’s mansion, turreted in the Scots Baronial style and standing proudly at the head of a 6500-acre estate dating back to 1510. The castle is nestled in the heart of Glenshee and is surrounded by breath-taking mountains, glens and little rivers all a few steps away from the front door. Peace and tranquillity is a feature of life at Dalmunzie, with fires and lounges contributing to a relaxing haven from the outside world.

"It was so calm and so solitary...all seemed to breathe freedom and peace, and to make one forget the world and its sad turmoils."
Queen Victoria’s diary, 1848, en-route to Balmoral via Glenshee

Dalmunzie was excellent. We stayed over Christmas, hoping for a white Christmas. The castle is very comfortable. Quite a few rooms, all with fireplaces, to relax, read, drink or talk to new friends. The countryside is stark but beatifull. Long walks if you want them, up the nearby mountain or on the flat. Braemar is a short drive if you want to go shopping. The castle arranged a local gin tasting, (Well worth it) plus others. No pressure if you dont want to partake. The food was fabulous. I have never had better. Three or four course meals, afternoon teas and the whisky porridge for breakfast! I am trying to make it at home. No success yet. The bar is well stocked and the staff are very friendly, efficient and nothing is too hard for them. I would go back again if not for the flights from Australia. Some others were planning to go again as we left. We thorougly enjoyed it. Go if you can.

The staff were excellent, and the food amazing! The castle was decorated beautifully for Christmas. The events and entertainment were very well organised, and enjoyable. Our room was in need of a bit of an upgrade, but this certainly didn't diminish our enjoyment of the holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dalmunzie Castle.
