Flawless and Stunning service. The staff were superb and faultless. Spectacular views, beautiful hotel, delicious food. I liked the sheet on the history from Arthur and everyone was friendly and helpful. I can’t recommend it highly enough. ??????????
A true 5 star experience. With staff there was no task too great with perfect measured attention. A delightful experience from start to finish would highly recommend.
Wonderful service and attentive staff. Our accommodations were very nice in the woodland suites. My only critical feedback is that I don’t consider this a castle stay. The main “castle” is beautiful but really more of a manor house. Maybe if we had stayed in the main building we would have had more of that experience but I don’t think so. We had all our meals there. The restaurant is lovely and comfortable with a pretty view of the lake. Wonderful, relaxing place and highly recommend but just know it’s not a true castle experience.
This could be one of the best stays we had in Scotland. The staff was unbelievable. Everyone had the answers we needed and were always there to help. The room was beautiful. Our regret was that we only stayed one night.
I am an elderly lady with reduced mobility. I was looking for a 5 star hotel as a special treat for myself. I required a hotel that would be an easy drive from Aberdeen. A relative suggested I look at Fonab Castle Hotel. It looked like it had everything I required. My accessible suite was excellent with the bathroom having plenty of grab handrails. A perfect walk-in shower, except, for me, it would have been even better with a seat as I can’t stand for too long. But I managed. It was a short walk to the Brasserie Restaurant and a very convenient lift as I’m not good on stairs. The restaurant staff were excellent, very attentive without being intrusive. The food was excellent, my favourite being the apricot and almond tart. I have a very conservative taste in food and struggled to find something I would enjoy for a main course. What I did choose was delicious. I’m not really into “fine dining”, I’m more a mince and tatties kind of person. Saying that I know choosing a 5 star hotel I did not expect to see mince and tatties on the menu. Breakfast was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the pancakes with maple syrup. One of the main things i was looking forward to was using the pool. I checked before I booked the hotel that there was steps and a handrail as it would be easier for me to get in and out. Getting to the building with the pool wasn’t too far. But, there was steps going down to the entrance. Luckily, one of your excellent porters helped me. We walked to the building arm in arm and he was a great support helping me down the steps. There are ramps for wheelchair users. I got to the reception and the young lady there couldn’t have been more helpful. She supplied me with a dressing gown, towel and flip flops. She took me to the changing room and demonstrated how to lock the locker. At her suggestion, when I was ready, I went back to reception and she took me to the pool. There was no one using the pool so I thought, bliss, I’ve got the pool to myself. I walked to the steps and realised there was no way I would get down or up the steps. The handrail did not start at the top of the steps. I was so disappointed as I was looking forward to a swim or just being in the water. I was terrified if I tried the steps I would slip and hurt myself. So my new bathing costume didn’t even get wet. The young lady on reception helped me out of the building and walked beside me while I went up the steps and also used the ramp. All staff were excellent, particularly the porters. On arriving a porter got my suitcase out of my car and took it to my room and on leaving a porter took my suitcase and put it in the boot of my car. The reception staff, housekeeping, porters and restaurant staff were all excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend The Fonab Castle Hotel.
