The dedicated events team at Rothes Glen specialises in creating bespoke weddings for up to 28 guests, ensuring every detail—from the atmosphere of your day to the exquisite wedding breakfast to the luxurious accommodation at night—is wrapped in comfort, quality and elegance. The sophisticated mosaic entrance floor, grand hall’s traditional features and richly coloured drawing room—with cosy sofas, an open fire, and panelled ceilings—offer a glimpse of Rothes Glen’s timeless charm.

The countryside estate offers a plethora of wedding photograph opportunities, featuring the iconic pair of 'marriage trees'—majestic Scots pines over a century old—the dramatic backdrop of the Cairngorms, and the charm of three beautifully kept castle gardens. Whether its snowdrops or daffodils, rhododendrons or lilies, the gardens and grounds are idyllic all year round.

Your ceremony and reception drinks

Whether in the castle or out in the grounds, your civil ceremony at Rothes Glen will be a memorable start to the day, with guests receiving a welcome glass of Champagne or dram of whisky on arrival.

Imagine walking down a wonderfully light, curved staircase lit by a stunning chandelier, into the opulent setting of the grand hall. Alternatively, you can take your vows either at the foot of the marriage trees, on the manicured lawns or on the rose garden terrace.

Should you opt for a religious ceremony, Rothes Glen can recommend a number of beautiful local churches and chapels.

Add even more grandeur to your post-ceremony drinks with the option to feature live music in the drawing room, ballroom or on the grand hall balcony.

Your wedding dinner

This elegant castle offers a wide variety of dining locations for your wedding dinner celebrations, from the dining room to the rose terrace, courtyard or fountain terrace. You can even dine by the lochan - a serene ‘little lake’ setting.

At Rothes Glen you and your guests can enjoy live music in the drawing room, ballroom or from the grand hall balcony. You can also have live music and dancing within the grand hall itself.

Wedding accommodation

Rothes Glen offers accommodation for up to 28 wedding guests, with 14 elegantly designed king-size bedrooms. Each features a generously sized en-suite bathroom, sumptuous fabrics and locally sourced wooden furnishings and large windows with lovely views over the gardens and grounds.

The spacious rooms are placed throughout the second and third floors of the castle. They have been thoughtfully decorated to capture the tradition and character of Rothes Glen, with a strong emphasis on atmosphere, comfort and carefully chosen details, such as beautiful paintings and ambient lighting.

Bridal Suite

The Phoebe offers an ideal space, featuring beautiful natural light and a spacious bathroom with ample room to store all the bridal essentials.

Location

Rothes Glen is situated just to the north of Rothes, in the heart of the Spey Valley. Elgin is 7 miles to the north, with the Moray Firth 5 miles beyond. Inverness Airport is 40 miles (1 hour) to the west, and Aberdeen airport 58 miles (1 hour 15 minutes) to the east. Aviemore train station, with direct connections to Edinburgh and on to London, is 43 miles (1 hour) away. There is a private helicopter pad and unlimited parking with electric car charging points.

There were many unique moments that contributed to us, our families, and friends having the best time. Ranging from the incredibly warm welcome and walk through on Wednesday to a bagpipe welcome for Justin and I on Thursday – we truly were not expecting the piper and welcome whisky for us, rather just for our guests. It is still such a special standout moment for us both. Steve, you managed ‘Steve’s Bar’ with genuine cheer and always a story, which we know allowed all of us to build a connection with you – even to the point where a rousing chant of “Steve, Steve, Steve” felt like the most natural conclusion to what was a fantastic firework display. This was all capped off by expert recs for our trip to Skye – while we did not manage the Michelin star restaurant, every rec led us to beautiful places mostly still with the sun shining. Joanna, a massive thank you to your support since last November. There was so much anticipation and excitement on our end, building over the last months, and being at Rothes with your guidance, hospitality and management to the point where we did not have to worry about anything, was all above expectations. We continue to receive messages from our family and friends saying how much they miss castle life – so again, thank you for helping us all make Rothes feel like home for 3 days.
