Springkell is a stunning Palladian Mansion built in 1734, located just six miles from historic Gretna Green. The house and grounds provide a stunning venue for everything from a spectacular, large wedding to a small and intimate celebration.
Your Wedding
At Springkell customisation is standard. The property allows for much flexibility and can host weddings from 2 to 150 people! (250 in the marquee)
You can marry inside or outside, or alternatively you could get married in your own church and have your reception onwards at Springkell.
Inside, the wedding room, with its elegant 2m mirror surrounded by Italian marble, can hold up to 150 guests, 100 seated and 50 standing. Complete with an aisle, it also has separate entrances, one for each of the wedding couple. All ceremonies are candlelit, creating a warm and romantic atmosphere in this beautiful and impressive room.
Outdoor weddings take place in the romantic round garden with views over the beautifully kept formal gardens and parkland. In addition there is a sweeping Italian stone staircase with a balcony on which to frame some lovely wedding day photographs.
You and your guests can also use the formal rooms, including the black and white marble entrance hall complete with 4 marble pillars, the portrait gallery which leads to the wedding room and the music room.
Once the ceremony is over, you can then move into the main hall for your reception. The hall, which can hold up to 180 guests (120 for a sit-down meal), is simply stunning and boasts marble pillars and black and white marble flooring.
The lovely ballroom is the location for your wedding breakfast, where you and your guests can enjoy whatever entertainment you chose.
You will be provided with a dedicated wedding coordinator and everything can be arranged for you, from accommodation to flowers and your dining requirements.
Springkell is fully licensed to host civil, religious, and humanist wedding ceremonies, same-sex civil partnerships ceremonies, and wedding blessings, both inside the house and in the gardens.
Marquee Weddings
For a larger wedding with Springkell as a backdrop, marquee hire can be offered for up to 250 seated guests.
Marquee hire is inclusive of: full wooden floor, interior liners, Georgian entrance with doors and windows, chandelier lighting, heating, full table linen, round tables (maximum 10 guests per table) and chairs for your guests.
Entertainment and Extras
Packages are available that include extras such as a photographer, flowers and decorations, a two-tier wedding cake and make-up, nails and hair. The wedding coordinators are always delighted to discuss any ideas you may have!
Ceilidhs, Bands and Discos
The most popular choice for larger numbers is to hire a ceilidh band and/or disco. You are then guaranteed a party atmosphere with dancing into the small hours, lots of fun and laughter, as well as adding some real Scottish ambience to your wedding reception evening.
Scottish Pipers
A piper can be booked to play before and after events. The piper pipes the wedding couple into the restaurant for their wedding breakfast and all guests enjoy this very special Scottish tradition – a great way to make an impressive entrance in front of your family and friends!
Owl Ring Delivery
Barney the owl will fly in, carrying the rings to the gloved hand of the groom, best man, or supervising falconer.
Accommodation
Springkell has 21 unique bedrooms in the main house, including a choice of 2 stunning honeymoon suites. The interiors were designed exclusively by the designers who created the bedrooms at The Goring Hotel, London, and can sleep up to 49 guests in total. Three cottages just a short walk from the main building provide accommodation for a further 13 guests, making 62 in all.

Location
Springkell is located in Dumfries and Galloway in southern Scotland, just 6 miles from historic Gretna Green and close to the border with England. The property is easily accessible, just 2 miles from the M74.

The bedrooms are first class and the rest of the property very good. We had exclusive use of the property for three days and had a great time. The meals were excellent.

Springkell is a lovely old rambling manor house, very charming and stately. The staff was very attentive and helpful and the food was excellent. We enjoyed our stay very much.
The staff and owner were amazing , the food gorgeous, and we spent a peaceful amazing first two days of our marriage here, highly recommended for a nice quiet break away with plenty to see and do
I held my sister's hen party at Springkell Estate and we all had the most fantastic weekend. The venue is outstanding and the staff were amazing. There was nothing that was too much trouble and they went above and beyond to make our stay superb. All the food was delicious and despite the rubbish weather we all had fun taking part in the mini highland games in the stunning grounds. The rooms are all beautiful - huge, now all ensuite and luxurious! I particularly enjoyed the giant freestanding bath in the bridal suite!
