Exclusive-use castle an hour from Edinburgh, perfect for both small gatherings or larger events.
Designed by renowned Scottish architect Robert Adam, Wedderburn Castle is perfect for small gatherings of family and friends as well as larger house parties and private celebrations.
Groups of up to 26 guests can experience the castle on a self-catering basis, while fully-staffed, lavish events for up to 150 people can take place in the castle's elegant reception rooms or rustic Georgian barns.
Self-Catering
Wedderburn Castle can be rented on a self-catered, exclusive-use basis, sleeping up to 26 guests in 12 individually-designed bedrooms.
The castle is entered by the stair hall which features a striking geometric stone staircase. The stairway converges at the gallery, an imposing vaulted space, almost 100 feet long, which links the castle’s reception rooms.

The Drawing Room is the principal reception room, with cosy furnishing and distant views across the South Lawn. The magnificent Dining Room is the perfect setting for banquets and The Ballroom is an elegant, bright setting for dancing.
The castle has a well-equipped kitchen and hearty breakfasts can be enjoyed in front of the log-burning stove in the character-filled breakfast kitchen.

The 12 unique bedrooms are spacious, light and elegant. Every room is different, with many original period features and fabulous views over the castle grounds and Berwickshire countryside. All are en-suite or have private bathrooms.
Events
Offering remarkable flexibility, events for up to 150 people can utilise the castle's reception rooms or rustic Georgian barns.
The Barns

The barns consist of two principal spaces: the Cartshed for dancing, ceilidhs and bands, and the Provender Barn for dining. The airy, atmospheric rooms are lit with wrought iron chandeliers above the rustic wooden beams. The two spaces are linked together and provide a flexible backdrop for personalised events for up to 150 guests.
The Castle
The Ballroom, with its marbled columns, Georgian windows and crystal chandeliers, is the perfect setting for concerts, live music and dancing. The Ballroom seats up to 80 guests with a generous central aisle.

Drinks receptions take place in the Drawing Room, with a huge log fire and comfortable sofas or, if the weather is good, the front lawn offers an outdoor alternative.
The gong will sound and guests will be ushered into the magnificent Dining Room for a banquet for up to 86 people.
All events are tailored to your requirements. The events team can help as little or as much as you like, with everything from recommending caterers, musicians and florists to assisting with timings for events.
During the day, outdoor activities, including clay pigeon shooting, falconry, tomahawk throwing, hot air ballooning and Highland Games, are easily arranged in the grounds of the castle. In the evening murder mystery parties, casino nights, whisky tastings and musical entertainment can be arranged.
Dining
The castle and barns provide a backdrop for a wide variety of dining options, ranging from kitchen suppers and courtyard barbeques for friends and family, to banquets for special occasions. Celebrations are overseen by a panel of approved caterers who have been selected for their excellent food and professionalism.
The Scottish Borders offer a wealth of fresh produce, notably salmon from the nearby river Tweed, fresh seafood from the fishing port of Eyemouth, and excellent wild game, Scotch beef and Border lamb. The area also has many artisan food producers, ranging from smokeries to cheesemakers and breweries, to ice-cream producers.
Activities
Berwickshire is a famously unspoilt landscape packed with historically interesting places, many of them with connections to Wedderburn. Lots of activities and attractions are available within 20 miles of the castle.
