This unique two-night escape combines a stay at Lumley Castle with a journey aboard the world's oldest railway. During your stay, experience a return journey on the world-renowned Tanfield Railway, established in 1725, offering a nostalgic six-mile round trip through the beautiful wooded landscape of the Causey Valley, aboard a lovingly restored heritage steam train.
Along the way, the iconic Causey Arch, the world's oldest surviving railway bridge, can be admired in all its glory.
After a day of exploration, return to Lumley Castle to indulge in a traditional afternoon tea before unwinding in a luxurious castle bedroom.

Please note that the Tanfield Railway train service is available on Sundays only until 11 October 2026. This package is available for Saturday to Monday or Sunday to Tuesday stays, with the Tanfield Railway journey taking place on the Sunday.

- For cancellations up to 48 hours in advance, no charge is applied;
- Cancellations after this period will incur a cost of the first night's stay.
