Your bespoke ceremony
Choose to exchange your vows in the castle’s enchanting gardens or in one of the exquisite ceremony rooms. The gardens are particularly delightful on a sunny or warm day whilst the natural-light filled Viscount Room and Ballroom offer wonderful interior backdrops for saying “I do”, radiating timeless elegance and boasting period features. If marrying inside the castle, enjoy walking in the footsteps of kings and queens gone by and descend the beautiful ornate staircase to prelude your walk down the aisle.

A wedding in the castle
The Ballroom can host up to 60 dining guests and 80 evening guests. For smaller weddings The Hay Room and The Boardroom both seat ten comfortably and the Arniston Room seats 26 guests; each offering a luxurious setting.
A marquee wedding
If you’re planning a larger wedding, you may wish to book the spacious and contemporary marquee in the castle grounds, which can accommodate dining for up to 160 guests and dancing for up to 200 guests.

Should you opt for exclusive use wedding at Melville Castle, you are given the option to choose between two romantically styled and beautiful bridal suites, whilst an intimate or elopement wedding gives you the choice of any of the 33 uniquely characterised castle bedrooms.
Guest bedrooms
The castle hotel can accommodate up to 75 wedding guests in their range of unique castle bedrooms. Magnificent ornately-carved four-poster beds are dressed with the very best Egyptian cotton bedding to ensure ultimate comfort. Decorated in bold, rich colours and balancing historic splendour with contemporary style, the striking bedrooms showcase period furnishings complemented by luscious fabrics.

Location
Melville Castle is less than 7 miles from Edinburgh. It is possible to take a bus (around 35 minutes), then walk around 6 minutes to the castle. Alternatively, the city is just a 20-minute taxi journey away.

Super stay. Staff very helpful - rooms warm and comfortable.
Everything from the drive up to the castle to the castle itself is absolutely idyllic. The grand staircase is gorgeous and our room was spectacular. The grounds are immaculately kept and absolutely stunning. My husband and I purchased the dinner and breakfast package and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the service was great. Highly recommend!
We stayed at Melville Castle in mid October 2025. My husband and I were visiting Edinburgh with 5 friends to renew our vows. We had a wonderful room, they upgraded us for free in celebration. They hosted out renewal dinner and it was a wonderful dinner. The food was great and the bartender took such good care of us. We had a blast having the room to ourselves for a long time. They were really kind to us and made this visit so special. The grounds were so beautiful, I could have strolled through the woods exploring all day! Overall, I would certainly stay here again!!
Lovely castle set in beautiful surroundings. Standard room still had an elegant charm. Very nice clean and comfortable room. Reception welcoming and had a very nice Scottish breakfast.
Melville Castle was beautiful - we were greeted by Jamie, who was very helpful and explained everything. Our room was beautiful and spacious, with plenty of space for luggage. We had two large windows facing to the back lawn, fountain, and meadow - it was beautiful. Dinner in the restaurant was varied and tasty, as was the breakfast in the dining room. The bar is vintage - leather couches and high ceilings - extremely comfortable - a wonderful place to unwind at the end of the day. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Edinburgh.
