Augill Castle sits in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside, just four miles from the historic market town of Kirby Stephen.

Set amongst the landscapes of the Eden Valley, the castle offers a wonderfully secluded setting for a Christmas gathering, while still being within easy reach of the North of England’s major towns and cities.

For Christmas, the journey is part of the experience. Leave the everyday behind, arrive at the castle, light the fires and settle in for three nights of Christmas in your very own castle.

And when a little fresh air is needed between Christmas lunch and the leftovers, beautiful Cumbrian countryside is right outside the door.

Three days together

For people who don’t get to spend enough time together, Christmas can be the perfect excuse to pause everything.

Perhaps it’s a family that has spent years trying to coordinate several houses, several generations and several Christmas schedules.

Perhaps it’s a group of friends who have reached the point where getting everyone in the same room once a year feels like a logistical triumph.

Available to hire on an exclusive-use basis, with space for up to 20 adult guests across 10 bedrooms.

For larger groups, six additional bedrooms may be available upon request, providing accommodation for a further 12 guests. Children are welcome in the adults’ rooms, with a sharing suite also available.

Christmas can be wonderful. It can also involve an astonishing amount of work.

Shopping, planning, lists, more lists, cooking, more shopping, wondering whether there are enough potatoes. Realising there aren’t!

Christmas in a Box is designed to take some of that work away.

Arrive at Augill Castle and find the festive essentials already taken care of.

The bar will be stocked, and your Christmas food will be prepared and ready to cook. Simply follow the instructions, cook everything in your own time and eat whenever you fancy it.

No strict timetable. No Christmas food shop for 20 people. No spending Christmas Eve wondering whether everything has been remembered.

There will be support available throughout your stay should it be needed, otherwise the castle is yours.

Fully self-catered Christmas

Prefer to bring your own food, your own drinks and do Christmas entirely your own way?

With the fully self-catered option, you can.

The castle will be prepared for arrival, with linen and bedding provided, and the logs ready for the fire.

Bring the Christmas crackers.

Everything else is taken care of.

Christmas in a Box - £9,000

Prepared festive food ready to cook, a stocked bar and support available throughout the stay.
