In Spring 2026, a group of the Celtic Castles team experienced exactly that during a stay at the magnificent Coombe Abbey nestled in magnificent parkland in the West Midlands, just two hours from London. The journey into Coombe Abbey is a moment in itself. As you drive through landscaped gardens and along a sweeping tree-lined avenue, the abbey gradually emerges into view, its dramatic stone façade rising like something from a period drama.

Guests gathered for drinks before being transported back to 1855 by our host, Lord Craven. What followed was an immersive evening of storytelling, clues, suspicion, and theatrical performances - all woven around a delicious three-course dinner (with hot plates!) and a glass or two of house wine.

The following morning, breakfast was served in the bright and elegant Garden Room - a fresh and welcoming light-filled conservatory-style restaurant, complete with leafy décor and delightful views across the estate.

A tempting and generous selection of hot drinks, continental treats and cooked breakfast options made for a relaxed and refreshing start to the day and set us up nicely for the journey home.
